Centaurs
From Wotchipedia
Mythological creatures comprised of the upper portion (torso, arms, and head) of a human combined with the body of a horse.
There are currently three types of known centaurs:
- otherSpace centaurs,
- Centaurs, First Class, and
- Centaurs, Second Class.
otherSpace Centaurs are those that have been formed by "otherSpace", an alternate dimension where humanity never existed. Examples of otherSpace centaurs are Samantha Peterson, Alex Tischenko (both from the Accidental Centaurs comic), and Ally Taverner. Originally, they matched the traditional image of the mythological centaur, but a major magical event retroactively changed the centaurs in otherSpace, giving them horse-like ears on the top of their heads and a mane running down their back. (Ally Taverner, not being in otherSpace, was not so changed.)
Centaurs, First and Second Class are residents of the dark dimension ruled by Lord Xaos.
First Class Centaurs are larger and stronger (with their lower bodies resembling that of a war horse) than the Second Class ones. They fit the image of the mythological centaurs in both look and action. They are full citizens in the realm, so long as they serve Xaos.
Second Class Centaurs are smaller, yet faster than the First Class ones (with their lower bodies resembling a race horse). Their look is similar to that of the current form of the otherSpace centaurs. However, Second Class Centaurs are limited in several other ways. Along with their physical differences, they also have great difficulty speaking the primary language of the Xaos' realm, primarily sticking to their own language -- which resembles the whinnies of horses. They seem to be less than intelligent. This is from the lack of education allowed to Second Class Centaurs. Unlike First Class Centaurs, Second Class Centaurs are not citizens of the realm. They are primarily considered to be intelligent animals and used as such.
There is also the existence of a magical statuette, which, when used, can turn its victim into a Second Class Centaur. This statue was last known to be in the possession of Xaos' secretary Mrs. Peterson and was allegedly used by her on the town of Theed.
