This page focuses on questions about the Wotch storyline, its characters, its plot, and inter-workings between them. There are story spoilers in here, but they're hidden unless you request complete answers.

  1. What's the relationship between Robin, Anne, and Cassie?
At the start of the story, they've just met, although Cassie and Robin apparently dated before. Robin likes Anne right away. But now, things are more complicated... [spoiler...]The short short of it is this: Robin likes Anne. Cassie likes Robin. Robin doesn't like Cassie, although he agreed to date her. Cassie is jealous of Anne's powers. Cassie has gained magic powers, and is planning to use them against Anne. Anne, however, is clueless about Cassie's powers. Thus it's a complex love triangle thing, and no doubt will only get more complex as time goes on. [...hide spoiler]

  2. Why is Jason obsessed with redheads?
He claims that it's just that he thinks blonde girls are commonplace and boring, so redheads are just more interesting, but given his reactions to the girls he sees, we're not at all sure we buy that story.

  3. Okay, then what's with Jason's "redhead sense"?
Your guess is as good as ours. Jason can be strange when redheads are involved.

  4. What's the relationship between Evan and Lilly?
They're the same person, transformed by Anne using a magical amulet. Take a look at the first time Robin and Jason saw it happen.

  5. With all the TG stuff going on in this comic, I have a theory that Anne was a boy before she found the flute...
We're not gonna say anything about this, but you might be able to answer this from a look at the family portrait from when Anne was very young. It's hanging on the wall in this comic, and you can see it closer here.

  6. Is the "TG" in "Tandy Gardens High School" coincidental?
Author-Robin picked the name very carefully. What do you think?

  7. What's with all the Mario/Zelda/Metroid references?
Anne and Robin like Nintendo games, both new and old, so Anne likes to put in references to her favorite games.

  8. And how about the Star Wars conscience figures?
It was a good joke the first time, and Anne liked it so much that it became a running gag.

  9. What's Robin humming in this comic in Milo's store during Myths and Legends?
Eh, you kids today. He's humming the Metroid theme song, and the two sprites you see there are from the original Metroid game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), circa 1987. It's been rereleased as Metroid: Zero Mission for the Gameboy Advance, so all of you who missed it can play it again for the first time.

  10. How do you pronounce "Xaos"?
The 'X' is supposed to be similar to a Greek "chi." Thus it is pronounced like the word "chaos" --- like kay-ahs, or, written using IPA phonemes, /ke as/. It does not sound like "cows," "Zeus," "zows," or rhyme with "house."

  11. I think the equations on Professor Madison's chalkboard are wrong.
Yeah, we know. Don't worry about it. It is just a story, after all.

  12. Some of Wolfie's wrestling moves are illegal!
Again, yeah, we know. Anne made a little mistake with this... [spoiler...]admitting later, "I know nothing about wrestling :-( ". Just pretend the referee is giving Wolfie a little leeway for the guy being a jerk at the start of the match. [...hide spoiler]

  13. I think I've seen Adam before! Is he related to Jason or Milo?
No, Adam is a new character, not related to anybody else you've met so far. It's probably just that the hair and the perky personality seem similiar to so many other waiters in restaurants.

  14. Why didn't Wolfie transform during "Myths and Legends?"
Probably because... [spoiler...]Wolfie actually is a werewolf, so the Mythos Virus wouldn't affect her at all (after all, she already is a mythical creature!). [...hide spoiler]

  15. After "Myths and Legends," were James and Irene left stuck in each others' bodies?
Yes, they were, and they were stuck that way... [spoiler...]for quite a while. But they got switched back during "Consequences" when Anne found out about their predicament. [...hide spoiler]

  16. I didn't understand what monster Katie was talking about in this comic. What's she talking about?
Ask your mother, your sister, or your girlfriend. Trust us... they'll know.

  17. What's with the "goulash" jokes?
It was a short running gag in the comic, starting here and here, that spread to the forum and there took on a life of its own. If you want to know more, just search through the forum on the word "goulash"; you'll find plenty.

  18. What's the Tandy Gardens High School mascot?
Read the comic carefully... what hopping animals rhyme with "lose"? If you still can't guess, here's a clue.

  19. We've seen Robin and Jason turned into girls lots of times; will we ever see Anne become male?
Anne will always be female. According to author-Anne, "the Wotch power prevents its user or former users from becoming male, whether for the first time, or returning to a male state after inheriting the power," and this fact was demonstrated in the "Adventures in Babysitting" arc. While Anne might change genders in a filler comic, in-canon, she will always be female. All bets are off on just about everybody else in the comic, though.

  20. What do canon and non-canon mean?
These are standard terms for describing what's officially a part of the story and what isn't. Characters, actions, and events that are officially a part of the Wotch, as determined by Anne and Robin, are considered canon; and everything else that might happen, or might be discussed in the forum or written about or drawn in fan-created works is considered non-canon unless Anne and Robin say otherwise. So, for example, all of Cheer! is considered canon within the Wotch because Anne and Robin declared it so, even though it's drawn by Tselsebar and not Anne or Robin; while "Wotch the Time" is not considered canon (and is considered filler) despite being drawn by Anne and posted as a comic.

  21. Who was the creepy hooded guy? Why did Xaos turn evil? Who was the minotaur? Sonja's boyfriend?? ...
Aw, come on. We're not going to give away everything; you know we can't give away the plot. Just keep reading the comic; all your questions will be answered eventually.
