Katie first appeared when she hosted the Slumber Party of Doom, to which she invited Anne, Wolfie, Mingmei, and Cassie. It was revealed there that [Spoilers for "Slumber Party... OF DOOM!"...]her family was letting Mingmei live with them, due to an alibi fabricated by Miranda West.It has been shown that she loves Mingmei like a sister.After Cassie accidentally summoned a Uricarn demon, it transformed Katie into a werecat, in a possible foreshadowing of Moon Over Tandy. This transformation was undone when Anne banished the demon into a limbo dimension.

Shortly after the Mythos outbreak, [Spoilers for "Moon Over Tandy"...]Katie found a seemingly ordinary cat which promptly scratched her, just before she caught a glimpse of Wolfie turning into her werewolf form.Soon afterwards, rumors of werecreature sightings began circulating around TG High. After she discovered that Wolfie was a Werewolf, she stood by her all the way. When Wolfie believed herself to be one who had been sighted, Katie accompanied her on a meeting with Anne, Robin, Jason, and Milo at the Magic Touch to attempt a cure. Believing they need to apply the Mythos Virus cure to Wolfie's werewolf form, Anne magically created an artificial full moon effect, triggering not only Wolfie's transformation, but Katie's as well. It was revealed that the cat that had scratched Katie was actually a demonic werekitty, and its scratch had turned Katie into an ailuranthrope, a.k.a. a werecat. The werecreature sightings had actually been of her.
Turning into a mindless, feral beast, Katie escaped and went on a rampage through Tandy, but was soon subdued by Anne and Wolfie, using a magical amulet that keeps her human mind in control of her body while she is in werecat form. Wolfie allowed her to keep the amulet to prevent her were-curse from being dangerous. Anne transformed the amulet into a shamrock shape to better suit Katie's style, and she has worn it as part of her everyday attire ever since. Their respective were-curses have created a deeper bond between Katie and Wolfie, and they and Anne now hold "tails only" sleepovers on full moon nights.

- She also seems to have a bit of a problem with Jason, mainly because of his redhead obsession.
