Max and Xander are two characters who were based on two people Anne knew from school. Max is short and wears a baseball cap while Xander is tall with spiky hair. Max has yet to say a single word in the comic; Xander, on the other hand, tends to talk far too much. Both of them are desperately searching for a female partner. After Xander drank some Love Potion Cassie intended for Robin (again), he began lusting after the Gothic Witch, which rather surprised Max, as he had just said before drinking the potion that she was the only girl he was not interested in. Nowadays, he dreams of her, and threatens anyone who hurts her feelings by telling them that he'll get Max to mess him up.
