[edit] Complete summary
[spoiler...]After a strange dream, Robin realizes he has an urge to take up magic. He's been denied two chances to perform magic so far, first when he wished for Wotch powers and was bimbofied before he could use them, and again when the Uricarn demon destroyed Cassie's spellbook before he could banish him with it. Against Jason's advice, he goes to the Magic Touch. As Milo goes off to get something, Kohain appears, posing as Milo's assistant, and hands Robin a spellbook, saying it will make him a magic user. Robin accepts it eagerly.
At Tandy Forest Park, Robin shows Jason his new spellbook, which gives them a face full of dust as soon as he opens it. Anne shows up, and Robin panics and flees, not wanting to admit it to her yet.
That night, Robin tries casting a spell from the book, but nothing happens. He goes to sleep, and wakes up the next morning — as a centaur! Shocked, he rushes to Anne's house, where he finds that Anne has become a pixie who can now only cast rain spells. Lilly is now a mermaid, while Jason has turned into a female satyr. Anne doesn't know how any of her spells could have caused this, and Jason almost tells her about Robin's spellbook. Robin drags Jason aside and insists on keeping the book secret, as he's convinced the one spell he tried couldn't have done it either. They soon realize the effect isn't limited to just them, as they see three people outside suddenly transform as well.
Soon, Tandy descends into chaos as people all over town start transforming into mythological creatures of one sort or another. Scott becomes a female elf, and is quickly turned to stone by Julie, who is now a gorgon. James and Irene become a yeti and a dryad, respectively, and are mind-swapped by Jennie, who is now an imp. Anne, Robin, and Jason decide to seek help from Milo. On the way to the Magic Touch, they face a minotaur who tries to make them answer a riddle to pass. A fight ensues, but the minotaur suddenly snaps out of it and lets them go.
At the Magic Touch, Milo turns out to be unaffected because he's immune to many magical ailments. He explains that the transformations are due to the Mythos Virus, a magical virus that spreads from person to person merely through close proximity. He also says that such magic viruses originate from the dust in spellbooks. Robin is horrified as he realizes his spellbook is the source.
Milo says he needs the book to make an antidote. Robin tries to blame Cassie and rushes off to retrieve it. Unfortunately, on his way back he gets distracted by the centaur urge to gallop, prompting Anne to go look for him. She flies off to Cassie's house, where she finds that Cassie is now a drider and catches her in a spiderweb. Cassie tries to eat Anne, but comes to her senses when she realizes Robin wouldn't like that.
Robin returns to the Magic Touch, finds out Anne went looking for him, and runs off to Cassie's house. There, confronted by both Anne and Cassie, he's forced to admit that he's the one who had the spellbook. Anne is angry that he lied to her, although Cassie thinks Anne drove him to it.
Robin and Anne return to the Magic Touch, where Milo makes a cure for the Mythos Virus. Anne carries the cure high into the sky and disperses it in the rain, turning everyone back to normal.
A few days later, Ivan decides to start a Paranormal Investigation Club to get to the bottom of all the supernatural activity around Tandy. James and Irene are still trapped in each other's bodies, and decide to join, as does Mingmei. Jason decides to join as well so he can run interference for Anne.
Cassie decides to tell Ivan about Anne, and in a fit of anger, throws a blue fireball that burns down a tree. Shocked to realize she has magic powers of her own, she changes her mind about telling Ivan.
Robin and Anne make up when Anne tells him she realizes he was just trying to be more helpful to her, but that he helps her enough just by being her friend.
In another dimension, Kohain reports the incident to Xaos as they pay a visit to a town. Xaos grabs a guy who was working for the Soldiers of the Resistance, and stabs him with the Sword of Shadows, turning him into one of the Fallen, setting an example for the other townspeople.
