Age: Unknown, known to be over 2000
First comic: the Wotch on Dec 11 2002

Melleck Xaos is the primary antagonist in The Wotch. He is an immensely powerful magic user, seemingly immune to spells cast by others. He carries with him the powerful Sword of Shadows, an item that is capable of transforming those it pierces into The Fallen, demon-like entities that are forced to obey Xaos' will. He conquered large parts of a world in a nearby dimension and crushed most of the Resistance that stood up against him. Xaos has stopped his war since, and his new plan involves getting the powers of the Wotch from Anne. For his schemes, he uses his right hand man, Kohain Ravime, who is able to travel across dimensions and can go to Tandy. Melleck Xaos himself cannot travel between universes.

[edit] History

Melleck Xaos was not always the powerful, evil entity that threatens The Wotch today. [spoiler...]
Xaos before he became who he is now, and the former Wotch.
Xaos before he became who he is now, and the former Wotch.
He was once the Worlock, a magical being equal in power and a counterpart to The Wotch. Together, he and the former Wotch fought off the Djinni Ishtarru, among other deeds. The two were a powerful team. Somewhere along his history, he and the Wotch parted ways. He ended up in the deserts of Di'ate. The Kalimundi found him, and saw even then that Xaos had tremendous power. They trained him, and his power became greater and greater. He began to assault entire cities on his own, and emerged not only victorious, but uninjured. However, the Kalimundi became a little more careless. Xaos eventually overheard their plans about him, and became angry. He slaughtered all but a few, then left. He wandered the world for a time, eventually casting a spell upon himself, causing him to fall into a deep sleep. It was much later that Kohain found Xaos, and awoke him. He gave Xaos his current helmet, a mysterious clip that attaches Xaos' cape to his armor, and offered his services. [...hide spoiler]

[edit] Sword of Shadows

The Sword of Shadows is [spoiler...]an incredible dark object. It is Xaos' preferred weapon, and he has never been seen using anything else.
The Sword of Shadows.
The Sword of Shadows.
The Sword has been with Xaos for a long time, or at least a version of it, but did not appear to have its current power until more recently. The Sword is not only impervious to rust and decay through time, as evidenced by the fact that it is still in perfect condition after all these years, but has a terrible power. It is capable of transforming those that have been pierced by it into Fallen, demon-like entities that are slaved to Xaos' will. Little else is known about the mysterious Sword. [...hide spoiler]

[edit] Fallen

[spoiler...]Those pierced by Xaos' Sword of Shadows do not die as expected, but rather become Fallen.

The Sword of Shadows transforming someone.
Fallen are demon-like entities that are fully one color, with eyes generally red, white, or black. Fallen are slaved to Xaos' will, and for a time, seemed unable to resist. However, this comic shows that, even transformed by Xaos' power, the original person is still within, and can influence themselves, though it takes great effort. Thus, if an anticurse was developed, it is possible that they would return to their former selves. However, it is important to know that no such anticurse has ever been found or developed, as shown here. [...hide spoiler]
